Border Area Villages' Association (BAVA) organises seminar at Chingai

A seminar on forest management was held at RASHIDO, Ngahui Village, Chingai Block in Ukhrul district from May 3 and 4 last, according to a statement issued by the secretary of BAVA, T Zingkhai.
The seminar organised by the Border Area Villages' Association (BAVA), Ukhrul district in collaboration with the Ukhrul District Community Resource Management Society (UDCRMS) was attended by representatives of various Tangkhul apex organisations including TNWL, TNL apart from border villages' headmen, NGO leaders, SHG members, and affiliating members at the grass root level.
The resource persons of the seminar included Thingreiphy, Natural Resource Management Officer, UDCRMS and Ningreingam Vincent, Business Development Officer.
After thorough deliberation, the seminar unanimously adopted that forest management be done through the Village Council and acknowledge the effect of global ecological imbalances in Manipur particularly.
Among others, the seminar also recommended for the effective utilisation of funds at the grass root level through the concerned Government in collaboration with locals to serve the rural bordering populace extensively.
Stake holders and participants of the seminar further endorsed the BAVA's role as withstander of the border areas and its resources, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the BAVA has also urged the concerned department to strictly adhere to the guidelines of Ministry of Home Affairs while implementing Border Area Development Programme (BADP) and other developmental schemes.
