Imphal, December 28 2024:
The KCP (PWG) has accused the NIT Manipur Registrar of fraudulence and manipulating recruitment exam process.
A statement issued by the outfit's PRO Chingkheinganba said that a recruitment exam was held at NIT Manipur recently and the Exam Coordinator allegedly helped many candidates clear the exam by using unfair means.
On the day the exam result was to be declared, the Registrar/Exam Coordinator/Registrar's PA asked some candidates who would be in the selected list through phone calls, messages and whatsapp messages to come and meet them.
But other candidates who cleared the exam on their own merit did not go to meet them, it said.
Those candidates who cleared the exam on their own merit have joined their offices, they have not been assigned any duty.
After sidelining a newly appointed Assistant Registrar, one Computer Engineering teacher has been given the charge of Assistant Registrar (Finance), it said.
Although the Director thought that the recruitment exam was conducted in a fair manner, the Registrar gave the duties of Exam Coordinator and Invigilators to some teachers who are close to him and the questions were leaked through mobile phones on the day of the exam, the outfit alleged.
Most of the questions were leaked through whatsapp because the Registrar acted as the Chief Invigilator, it alleged.
Misusing his power of being the DDO, Registrar Kh Tomba has misappropriated a huge amount, the outfit alleged.
Claiming that he is an active member of RSS, the Registrar has been collecting money from contractors and suppliers.
A large number of contract staff have been working at NIT Manipur since its establishment and their contract was extended periodically by the Registrars.
The latest contract of the contract staff expires on December 31, 2024 but Registrar Kh Tomba has not done anything yet to extend the service of the contract staff, it said.
The outfit then asked the Registrar, PA, Purchase cum Exam Coordinator and the Finance Officer to contact them at the earliest.
