Implementation of the assigned works under NREGS in Lamlai Assembly Constituency formally began from today along with distribution of job cards to 1071 people living under Nongren Gram Panchayat of the Constituency during a formal function at Nongpok Kakching today.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Family Welfare Minister Family Welfare Minister Ph Parijat who is also the MLA of the Constituency, said India Government has launched the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme with the main objective of development of the villages and improving the financial condition of its people.
Under the scheme, every person would be entitled to get jobs for 100 days in a year.
Apart from getting the wages of the work done, job card holders would be able to take part in the developmental process of their respective villages, he said.
Taking serious note of discrepancies in issuing job cards to the people, the Minister pointed out that instances of the age of the job card holders entering more than their mothers have been detected.
There is no one in this world who is older than their mothers.
So such discrepancies should be rectified at the earliest possible, he said while drawing the attention of the BDO concerned in this regard.
Pradhan of the Gram Panchayat and many other Government officials were also present during the function in which a total of 1071 jobs cards were distributed among the people.
