Troops of 23 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under IGAR (S) apprehended two KCP (Noyon) cadres today while conducting an operation in Keibi area of Ukhrul district, an IGAR (S) release claimed.
The cadres have been identified as Thangjam Naocha (20) son of Th Sanaton and Moirangthem Iton (18) son of Ratan, both resident of Keibi Awang Leikai, Lamlai, Imphal East.
A hand grenade was recovered from them.
In unrelated incident, troops of 15 AR and 36 AR under IGAR (S) apprehended one KYKL cadre today in a joint operation in Khoirom Makha Leikai.
The cadre has been identified as SS central committee audit (finance) advisor, Bastimayum Tomba Sharma alias B Sharma (56) son of (L) B Manjasana of Khoirom Makha Leikai.
He was handed over to Yairipok PS, it added.
Meanwhile, troops of 109 Battalion CRPF, deployed for EVM guard duty at Senapati arrested two NSCN (K) cadres yesterday at around 7.5pm, a CRPF statement claimed.
Acting on a reliable inputs that some unidentified militants were roaming in the area close to the strong room, the CRPF troop moved in and encountered four suspicious persons, it stated.
On being challenged, they started fleeing from the spot.
The troops apprehended two of them while the other escaped under the cover of darkness.
The arrested NSCN (K) members have been identified as Thorii son of Loni of Liyai village in Senapati district and Athesii son of Lohrii of Chawainamai Khunou.
One US made 9mm pistol alongwith three live rounds and a mobile handset were recovered from them.
They have been handed over to Imphal West Police Station, it stated.
Meanwhile, a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 30AR arrested two PLA cadres yesterday at around 10.30am from Nilakuthi area, according to a statement issued by the SP of Imphal East.
The arrested cadres have been identified as Elangbam Surchandra alias Khanganba (32) son of E Nitai of Pukhao Naharup Makha Leikai and Ngangom Premkumar alias Lemba (29) son of Ng Chaoba of Keikon Maning Leikai.
One mobile phone, three live rounds of M-16 ammunition were recovered from their possession, it added.
The same day around 12.30pm, acting on a tip-off provided by E Surchandra, two more PLA cadres including a woman cadre were apprehended from Paona Bazar and Uripok Tourangbam Leikai respectively, it stated.
The two cadres were identified as Maibam Dhanabir (47) son of M Nipamacha of Mayang Imphal Thana Mamang and Sanjenbam Sunita alias Lemchang Chanu (27) daughter of S Bomcha alias Danabir of Soto Dumai, Bangladesh.
One mobile phone, four press notes, two diaries, three live rounds of M-16 ammunition and one hand bag were recovered from their possession.
Further, at around 4.20 pm the same day, a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 28AR arrested two KCP (KK Nganba) cadres from Kongpal Iranpham area.
The two cadres were said to be Phijam Rainson alias Amuthoi alias Tayai Meitei (18) son of Ph Ibungobi of Pungdongbam Makha Leikai and Sapam Thoinaoba alias Surendra (20) son of S Ibohanbi of Sekta Makha Leikai.
One Chinese made hand grenade was recovered from them, the statement claimed.
The statement also claimed to have arrested one kidnapper identified as Md Ajmal Shah (36) son of Md Amjad Shah of Kshetrigao Keikhu Mamang Leikai and rescued one non-Manipuri identified as Pankaj Janardhan Salian (26), son of Janardhan Khongapa Salin of Hemade Chol, Pankaj Virtaka Nagar, Thane, Mumbai from Keikhu Khetrigao area.
