State records highest ever Covid deaths with 8

The State recorded highest ever single day COVID-19 fatality with eight individuals succumbing to the virus during the last 24 hours.
The COVID-19 death toll has now jumped to 158 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, four died at RIMS, Raj Medicity and Moreh Hospital.
Another two persons, both males (aged 63 and 75) who were under home isolation passed away at Churachandpur.
Further, a man aged 65 and a 75-year old woman, both hailing from Imphal East died at JNIMS this afternoon.
Two males who passed away at Raj Medicity and RIMS were from Thoubal and were aged 37 and 43 respectively.
A 60-year old woman from Imphal West too succumbed to the virus at RIMS.
One 57-year old man from Tengnoupal district also died of COVID-19 at Moreh Hospital.
The spokesman informed that 205 people including seven personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion during the last 24 hours at RIMS, JNIMS, Imphal West, Imphal East, Maipakpi Hospital, Little Clinic, Tengnoupal, Raj Medicity, Ukhrul, Advance Hospital, Bishnupur, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Jivan Hospital, Asian Hospital, Churachandpur, Thoubal, Ascent Diagnostics, Swiss Clinic, Shija Hospital, Jiribam, Tamenglong and Babina Diagnostics.
The 198 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (93), Imphal East (27), Thoubal (27), Tengnoupal (1), Kangpokpi (7), Bishnupur (16), Kakching (2), Senapati (4), Churachandpur (7), Tamenglong (10), Jiribam (3) and Chandel (1) .
None of them has any significant history of travelling outside the State.
In the meantime, 212 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (2), home isolation (10), RIMS (26), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (46), CCC UNACCO (5), Kakching (9), Lamding (5), RD Wing (7), Noney (26), Jiribam (1), Moreh (6), Sadbhavna (6), Lanva (7), Bal Bhavan (24), Thoubal (10), Tamenglong (8), Chandel (5), Senapati (2), Kangpokpi (2) and Ukhrul (5) .
The total number of COVID-19 positive cases has touched 17809 (general population 15087, Central security personnel 2722) .
It includes 4233 active cases (general population 3945, Central security personnel 288) and 13420 discharged cases (general population 10990, Central security personnel 2430) .
The recovery rate stands at 75.35 per cent.
COVID-19 nodal officer and Ministry of Power Joint Secretary VK Dewangan arrived here this afternoon to take stock of the COVID-19 situation in the State.
Two other members of the same Central team headed by VK Dewangan had arrived here yesterday.
The Central team held a meeting with officials of JNIMS and collected a report on the pandemic.
JNIMS officials highlighted to need to enhance the hospital's manpower and equipment.
It would be more fruitful in combating the pandemic if district hospitals are equipped to treat mild/moderate cases of COVID-19 in addition to raising the number of beds set aside for COVID-19 patients at JNIMS and RIMS, they told the Central team.
The Central team met the Chief Secretary later in the evening.
The announcement of seven localities of Thangmeiband as a containment zone following rapid transmission of COVID-19 in Thangmeiband area has been de-notified today as the situation has improved to a certain level.
The Imphal West DC issued a notification to this effect today.
Earlier Nagamapal, Lalambung, Thangmeiband Thingel Leikai, Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai, Thangmeiband Polem Leikai, Thangmeiband Lourungpurel Leikai and Thangmeiband Hijam Leikai were declared as containment zones.
A late report informed that 40 samples were found to be positive out of 232 samples tested today at JNIMS.
Further, six samples were tested positive at Thoubal, out of 64 samples subjected to Rapid Antigen Test.
A late report said that out of 112 persons from Imphal West who tested positive, 9 are from Yaiskul, 8 from Awang Potshangbam, 4 from Nagamapal and 4 from Singjamei Oinam Thingel.
