Imphal, June 25: The Governor of Manipur, Mr Ved Marwah has accepted a seven-point programme as suggested by the members of the Committee for Restoration of Normalcy (CRN) in the state.

The Committee was constituted at the wake of the mass violent uprising against the central government decision to extend cease-fire agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM) to parts of Manipur.

The main objective of the Committee is to advise the government in bringing normalcy in the state after the June 18 protest demonstration.

The Committee members comprised senior citizens of the state and is assisted by three senior police officers while Divisional Commissioner, Division I, Mr Ch Birendra is the convenor of the committee.

A meeting was held today at the Raj Bhavan here between the Committee and the Governor.

The members discussed the present situation of Manipur minutely and put forward many suggestions to bring back the state on the path of normalcy, out of which the Governor, Mr Marwah accepted seven points.

The points were extension of curfew relaxation hour, round the clock availability of ambulance service with telephone facility, payment of ex-gratia amount to the bereaved families before Shradha ceremony, improvement of distribution of PDS rice, kerosene oil and other essential items, facilitating the people particularly the student community in traveling strengthening of the protection of National Highways, cleanliness of Imphal Municipal area and politeness in dealing with public by the security forces during the curfew hours.

Mr.Marwah gave a patient hearing to all the suggestions put up by the members and told them that the concerned authorities would be directed to translate the suggestion into action.

During the meeting the Governor also appealed to the media in the state not to make any publication which might provoke any community in the state.

He further appealed to the general public to contribute their maximum mite in strengthening the age-old tradition of peaceful con-existence amongst different communities in the state and joined hands in the efforts made by the state government towards bringing normalcy in the state.

Meanwhile, the Committee for Restoration of Normalcy (CRN) in a separate press release has made a fervent appeal to the general public belonging to different tribes and communities to remain clam and united and to uphold the age-old tradition of communal harmony and understanding, which have been protecting the territorial integrity, unity and communal harmony of Manipur throughout the past centuries.

The press appeal issued by the convenor, Mr.Ch Birendra further appealed to the general public especially the younger generation to restrain from any violent activities which might aggravate the already tense situation in the state, thereby causing further loss of precious lives and public property.
