�I have no regret in losing one of my legs, but I will still join the struggle to save the territorial integrity of Manipur,� says Sorokhaibam Sobita Devi,39, one of the worst injured victims of the CRPF firing during the June 18 uprising against the extension of the India-NSCN(IM) ceasefire to Manipur.
Sobita Devi, now under treatment at JN hospital, had to have her right leg amputated after she was hit by a bullet in the knee near the Nupilal complex during the June 18 agitation.
Typifying the spirit prevailing among those injured during the uprising, she appealed to the people to continue the movement.
I will join the fight as soon as I recover, she says.
Salam Ibemcha Devi, 19, a PU first year student of the Kakching Khunou College, was another victim of the June 18 CRPF firing, being hit by a bullet that penetrated through the right leg, but she still supports the movement for protection of the state�s territorial integrity.
Altogether 15 injured people are under treatment at RIMS and JN hospitals and at Shija hospital.
Mostly bullet injury victims, they said they were waiting to be healed so that they can rejoin the agitation until the territorial integrity of the state is safe.
The injured victims under treatment at RIMS include Laimayum Naoton,22 of Brahmapur Aribam Leikai, who sustained a bullet injury in the right thigh, Mayengbam Romeo Meitei, 33, of Naoremthong Takyel Khongbal, who was hit in the right thigh and at the right hand, Chingabam Pandit ,22 of Kwakeithel Laishram Leikai, who was hit in the left calf, Thangjam Badal, 18, of Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, who sustained multiple injuries resulting from a tear gas boom explosion, Khaidem Banti, 21, of Moirangthem Makha Loklaobung, who was hit in the left ankle and Laishram Raju, 20, of Thouda Bhabok Leikai, who was hit in the left shoulder.
B Biju, 26, of Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak is under treatment at Shija Hospital with a bullet in the left thigh.
He is due to be operated on June 27 next.
Konsam Ranjit, 21, of Wangkhei, Th Opendra of Khongnembi, Naorembam Dhawan, Thokchom Dijen, 34, of Keishampat Thockchom Leikai and U Surkumar are under treatment at JN hospital.
Meanwhile, the voluntary help committee, RIMS hospital, today visited the families of the 14 firing and handed over an amount of Rs 10 thousand each as monetary help.
So far, the voluntary help committee, RIMS unit till today has collected a total of Rs 2, 69,969 in the form of public donations in aid of the firing victims.
Out of this, Rs 30 thousand has been given to the JN hospital voluntary committee.
Apart from monetary help, Shija hospital has provided a van free of charge to the RIMS voluntary unit.
A social worker, Kh Ibelei, of Chingmeirong Adimjati complex, has been provided a Gypsy, 40 litres of Kerosene has been provided by an S K oil dealer, Tiken of Kakwa.
