Imphal, July 23 2017: After his own photograph was found inserted in a street poster of BJP which has gone viral in social media, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president TN Haokip has decided to file a petition at Court in addition to lodging a complaint at Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) .

In connection with an executive body meeting of BJP Manipur Pradesh, street posters featuring many BJP leaders and the party's symbol were put up on the medians of some roads .

Among others, the posters feature photographs of BJP Manipur Pradesh President and Rajya Sabha MP K Bhabananda, Chief Minister N Biren and Works Minister Th Biswajit .

But one such hoarding put up in front of M-Sector featured a photograph of MPCC president TN Haokip and many people saw it this morning .

Some people who saw the particular hoarding photographed it and the same was uploaded on social media .

Pointing the finger of accusations at the firm given the task of putting up the posters, the State unit of the BJP has issued an order cancelling all contracts with it .

The BJP accused the firm, Sharma Enterprises, Wangkhei of falsely printing and erecting hoardings and maintained that all resultant consequences will be solely borne by the firm .

Later, the same poster was replaced by another which featured a photograph of MLA Y Khemchand .

Notably, an executive meeting of BJP Manipur Pradesh was held today at Hotel Classic Grande .

As the goofed up hoarding went viral in social people, a rumour spread that TN Haokip too was poised to join BJP spread in different quarters .

Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here this afternoon, MPCC president TN Haokip maintained that his photograph was inserted deliberately .

"It was an attempt to humiliate me and challenge key leaders of Congress party", TN Haokip said .

He said that he would approach the Court against such unethical conduct of BJP which fuelled a humiliating rumour .

Moreover, a complaint would be lodged at CCPS .

As the deliberate offensive act tarnished the image of Congress party, the matter would be dealt with at the level of party too, he said .

"I was elected on Congress ticket in 2002 and went on to become the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly.

At that time, there was NDA Government at the Centre led by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee", TN Haokip recalled .

"Together with an offer of a huge amount of money, BJP invited me to join them.

I turned down the offer as well as the invitation.

Again, approached me again to join them and lead the party in Manipur.

This time, I politely turned down the offer and asked them to find another political leader", he continued .

He went on to pledge that he would remain a Congress man as long as he is active in politics .

Comparing the BJP-led coalition Government with a three-months old baby, the MPCC president maintained that he would not like to be hypercritical of the Government .

CLP members have been holding themselves back to see how the BJP Government fulfils Prime Minister Narendra Modi's declaration that BJP would accomplish in 15 months what Congress Government could not in 15 years .

This does not mean Congress party would remain silent.

The party is very much alive and active .

Politics is a journey of ups and downs.

Mistakes and failures would pave way for future success, he asserted .

Congress party will restrain itself until the Assembly session is over.

But after the Assembly session, Congress would discharge all the responsibilities of a political party with full vigour in accordance with the activities of the BJP-led coalition Government, he continued .

BJP is a skilled rumour monger and people should not allow themselves to be swayed by their propaganda .

BJP believes in only one religion and a restive situation would prevail in Manipur as long as it remains in power .

On the other hand, Congress is a secular party and it would embark on a journey to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur, he asserted.
