Thoubal, April 08 2024:
The Lok Sabha elections on April 19 will decide Manipur's future, said INC candidate Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam as he continued his campaign at Congress' stronghold Wangkhem Assembly Constituency in Thoubal district today.
Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, the Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency candidate, supported by the INDIA Bloc, conducted the campaign at Haokha, Charangpat and Yairipok Bishnunaha.
At an election meeting held at the residence of MPCC president K Meghachandra at Yairipok Bishnunaha, Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam said the upcoming Lok Sabha elections are crucial and it would decide Manipur's future.
Manipur is reeling under a deep crisis since the past 11 months and the failure of the State leadership amid the crisis urged him to enter politics and face elections.

"While the crisis affected the lives of all in Manipur, the elected leaders failed to act and do their duties.
Such dereliction of duties by the elected leaders prompted me to enter the political platform and face elections," Dr Bimol said.
The INC candidate said the present crisis was fuelled by some outsiders who had entered Manipur.
They should be taught a lesson this election, he added.
In this election, people should vote for their candidates freely, he said, urging people to face those seeking to get votes by intimidation and by money power.
MPCC president and Wangkhem AC MLA Keisham Meghachandra said the BJP is wrongly blaming the Congress for its failure and the present turmoil in the State.
The BJP is in power and running the Government, but it is blaming the Congress for its failure, he said.
By peddling lies, they (BJP) are making people suffer more.
The crisis has taken the lives of many innocent people and thousands have lost homes, he added.
Meghachandra further asserted that the State Govt's failure had forced youths to take up arms.
"When the public and womenfolk had started questioning the MLAs and Ministers in the BJP on many issues, they didn't give any response.
"The Government was deaf when people urged it to convene an Assembly session and discuss the crisis.
The Government didn't respond to the people when it was needed.
"Now, Congress' Dr Angomcha Bimol will give the response with people's blessing and votes," said Meghachandra.
Manipur will vote in two phases.
Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency and some segments of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will vote on April 19 .
Remaining segments of Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency will vote on April 26 .
