Response to 'Arsenic laced water rings out alarm bell' news article

By: Dennis H. Clarke *

Thank you for the news article, Saturday, January 08, 2005, on the arsenic contaminations of ground waters, pumped from wells scattered throughout areas of Imphal. While these wells are newly confirmed to have deadly quantities of arsenic in them, the situation has long been well known, among health experts, to exist across a wider region than only parts of Manipur.

Word is now beginning to trickle out, to and through the press of the world, that there is no more critical health situation facing the peoples of Earth than the mass arsenic poisoning of the populations of East India and Bangladesh all of it due to the recent commencement of the use of ground waters, well known for at least five years, to be laced with deadly amounts of arsenic.

Arsenic is a heavy metal, which like other heavy metals, cannot be purged from the body by any normal means. Such metals as arsenic, lead, mercury and others, build up in the tissues and cells of the body and cause mental disorder and genetic mutations, which lead to social chaos, body deformities and eventually death. In the case of arsenic, interference with mental functions can appear as early as two to three years into the poisoning and deformities most frequently and first, appear as skin lesions. Such lesions begin to appear five to ten years after the first poisoning with arsenic and various body organ cancers begin growing at five to ten years after fist exposure and those cancers are generally detected between ten and twenty years after initial poisoning.

Once the multiple cancers begin to appear in the body organs, there is scarce chance of survival for the individuals so luckless as to have been exposed to the heavy metal to begin with. You see, once arsenic levels become elevated, they remain elevated and eventuate into the often horribly painful death associated with the multiple cancers of various body organs and systems. The only safe and effective treatments known, involve abandonment of arsenic laden water for a pure source (absolutely necessary to wash the arsenic from the body) and a specific set of nutritional supplements, which mobilize and carry arsenic particles from the body via the colon.

Your recent article is a good first look at the situation of arsenic in the ground waters of Imphal. However, it goes nowhere near fully describing the devastation in store for the people who live there in Imphal and other parts of South Asia. The sinking of tube wells as an answer to fecal and other contaminations of surface water has dealt the card of excruciating death to somewhere in excess of 80 millions of people of the region. The people of Earth have never experienced such a cataclysm as that which is looming over South Asia.

To make this horror all the more surreal, the entirety of this doomsday scenario is man made. In fact, it was the World Health Organization and UNICEF, which proposed and got the funding, partially through the World Bank, to propose and execute the plan to shift from the use of surface water to the use of groundwater for human consumption as a solution to bacterial and other disease producing agents in surface water.

Indeed, the propaganda behind the move proclaimed that such a switch of water source would save the lives of some 250,000 infants who were dieing of diarrheal disease, each year in South Asia. Of late, we are told that no one bothered to begin to check the safety of the ground water being made available through the auspices of the WHO, UNICEF and the World Bank for ten to fifteen years. When "discovered," the solution proposed and apparently universally accepted, and indeed currently funded in part by The World Bank, is to continue to use arsenic laden ground water but to develop, over time, "cost effective" mechanical means for removing the arsenic from that deadly water. Much of such available funds for arsenic mitigation projects remain unused for lack of agreed upon, workable, cost effective removal equipment. So, ground water, poisoned with arsenic and other heavy metals are still being pulled out of the virtual hell beneath the surface of the grounds of much of South Asia. The most dedicated eugenicist of the German Third Reich could scarcely have conceived a more perfect plan for the depopulation of an entire region of Earth. Large amounts of arsenic in the water and food supply are an almost perfect human pesticide. It kills with certainty while hiding the hand of the perpetrators from history.

Yet the perpetrators, claiming if cornered that they were on error ("Woops! We didn't intentionally kill eighty millions of people."), have been discovered and discovered in time so that something can be done about this mass, genocidal poisoning of the known to be dieing 80 millions but perhaps 100 million human beings or more, as new arsenic contaminations are behind discovered every week.

Those already poisoned need to understand that there is hope if they can find and begin to use arsenic free water. That water must obviously be treated surface water, which has been used with relative safety for thousands of years. The technology to purify and produce safe drinking water from even the most contaminated surface water is an old and known technology. The implementation of a plan to create, at no interest, funds for the emergency building of such water treatment plants must begin. This is no time for the bankers to greedily conspire to glean huge profits by "loaning this new money into existence." As such plants are absolutely needed and will be cost effective in the saving massive numbers of tortured souls, such expenditures will not be inflationary so should be created and granted, and indeed will produce even greater assets of infrastructure for that region of Earth.

But, a necessary first step is to remove the existing suppression from the entire story and give the world the truth of what has been done to the untold masses of people of South Asia, principally and particularly, the peoples of Eastern India (and perhaps other regions as well) and the people of Bangladesh. The doomsday scenario being played out against and amongst us and them, will doubtless roll out and around the globe to consume the hearts and free the resources of the people of good will of our planet as a whole. Every person, individually and in groups, must be called upon to decide whether the people of South Asia are as obvious an asset to mankind as all people of good will know them to be, or whether they believe them to be the "useless bread gobblers" whom the politically insane among us have targeted for extermination.

Scientists and the medical professions must be called upon to pick up such current, unfunded research as is now underway, into the use of nutrients to purge arsenic from the body via the colon (arsenic can destroy the kidneys). Already proven to be safe and effective, this research must be publicly funded and accelerated so that this almost cost prohibitive research doesn't continue to fall upon a handful of volunteers and "out of pocket" researchers and organizations. Broad public awareness is needed to raise the concern and the necessity level to demand an effective cure or it will surely arrive too late for most. Minimally, such technology as now exists, could and must be funded to save the lives of thirty to fifty million children, once a safe source of drinking water is made available to them.

We all wish we had discovered this data sooner. We all needed this information twenty years ago when the exterminations began. Far too many will die for lack of this knowledge and because those who knew, fearing political ramifications, did nothing. Those behind the World Health Organization and UNICEF decisions on these matters must step up and vindicate their organizations and themselves as not being party to such a new world orders as would allow such genocide to occur. These organizations represent Earth's Nations and so must represent the majority view, a social view supported by the collective of persons of good will. The antisocial personalities within these and the World Bank are by survey and observation in the minority. They must not be allowed by the good people among them to commit political exterminations, deliberately or, "by accident."

The time has come to lift the lid of secrecy and expose this scene to the light of day. Something can be done about it.

The antisocial forces among us must not win.

People of good will, must be challenged with this data now, in time to do something about it and to take the necessary steps to halt this genocide.
