SSU crowned champions of Manoranjan tourney

Imphal, February 23 2024:
SSU, Singjamei defeated DMRAO, Sekmai 3-0 to wrest the title of the 14th Shaheed Manoranjan Singh Memorial Football Tournament-2023-24 on Friday.
Brace of goals by L Roshan in 45+5th & 61st minute and L Kishan (48th) ensured the comfortable victory for the Singjamei team.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was held at SAI Sports Complex, Takyel with Youth Affairs & Sports minister Govindas Konthoujam as chief guest in the presence of CRPF NEZ ADG Binod Kumar Singh, M&N Sector IGP Akhilesh Prasad Singh and DIG Range Imphal PK Nayak.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Govindas commended the CRPF for organising the tournament in the memory of a local martyr.
He also urged the local youth to come forward and become responsible citizens.
The programme was also attended by Shaheed Manoranjan Singh's mother Ng Memcha, Patsoi MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh, BSF DIG JK Birdi, commandant DS Ahlawat, 33 AR commandant Arnab Mitra, SAI AD Laishram Samritya Singh, YAS director T Phulen Meitei, NHPCL general manager HN Upendra Hazara, senior officers of state administration, police and CAPFs, among others.
Champions SSU bagged prize money of Rs 3 lakh along with trophy and medals, while the runners up DMRAO had to be contented with Rs 2 lakh, trophy and medals.
Rs 10,000 each along with trophies were also presented to the tournament's top scorer Y Sonam Chothe of DMRAO, best goal keeper to N Kiranjit Singh of SSU, best player to Th Premjit Singh of SSU, man of the final match to L Roshan Singh of SSU and fair play award to AIM, Khabam.
