MPSC thrash NAPSA to complete Superplate semifinal lineup

MPSC pulled off a massive 207-run win over NAPSA on Tuesday to join PCC, YWC-L and KCC in the semifinals of the 3rd MNCA Superplate Tournament 2023-24 .
MPSC secured their semifinal spot after finishing second in their Group A standings.
They were equal on nine points from seven matches with Blue Hawk, but the police squad's strong performance in the last league round match at Oriental College Ground on Tuesday earned them a higher net run rate (1.8317) against Blue Hawk's NNR 1.4264 to qualify for the last four.
KCC emerged as the Group A winners with 14 points from their seven matches, while YWC-L topped the Group B table with nine points from their six matches by virtue of a better NRR against second-placed PCC, who also got nine points from six matches.
MPSC chose to bat first and amassed a total of 299 for 4 in 35 overs.
In the innings, Th Gelson top-scored for his side with a brilliant knock of 122 off 80 balls.
Also impressive at the crease was Sunil who remained unbeaten with 105 off 90 balls.
Kingson (24), S Shangker (18), P Bonem (4) and Lokeshor (2 not out) were other run-getters in MPSC's innings.
MPSC followed it up with a lethal bowling attack that wiped out the NAPSA batting order in 26.3 overs for 92 .
Bijoykumar and S Shangkar shone for the police team, claiming three scalps apiece while Th Gelson and I Bonem bagged a wicket each.
For NAPSA, Ch Mitamnganba (24 not out), L Kipajen (24) and T Dhanakubar (16) were the main run-getters in their dismal run chase.
Earlier, Y Rocky picked up two wickets as T Dhakuber and L Kipajen took one each for NAPSA.
The semifinals will see KCC (Kongba) take on PCC Mayai-kol and YWC (Langthabal) square off against MPSC on December 7 .
The final match will take place on December 10, 2023.In other match on Tuesday, Blue Hawk defeated UCC by 112 runs.
NAPSA (Kha-Imphal) and KSDO (Kiyamgei) have been relegated to MNCA Plate Group.
