The Court of Session Judge Imphal East has granted absolute bail to Meitei Leepun chief Mayengbam Pramotchand in connection with the FIR registered against him in connection with Tellipati incident on December 17 last year.
The absolute bail was granted yesterday after an anticipatory bail application was filed in December last year itself.

It is mentioned that the Porompat police station registered a suo moto case on receiving information that the petitioner and his associates used firearms to threaten some people near Tellipati Mandir on December 17 last year at around 2 pm.
During the hearing, the petitioner counsel submitted that the petitioner and his associates visited the sacred site at Khurai Ahong Pung on that day and found some garbage bags at the site.
Saying that the petitioner asked the locals to keep the place neat and clean as it is sacred to sections of people, the petitioner counsel claimed that some unknown persons shouted at Pramotchand and his associates using vulgar language.
It was also submitted that the petitioner and his associate were attacked.
The petitioner had also been co-operating in the investigation of the case, it added.
After hearing the submission of PP, petitioner counsel and on perusal of the case record, the Court said that they don't find sufficient reason to warrant custodial interrogation of the petitioner.
Accordingly, the Court ordered that the interim anticipatory bail granted to petitioner on December 27 last year be made absolute on some conditions.
