MHRC inspects

The Manipur Human Rights Commission Chairperson Justice UB Saha inspected Tabitha Children Home at Mantripukhri, Imphal East today where 52 children are currently lodged.
He was accompanied by MHRC Member KK Singh, IGP Mamata Wahengbam and Law Officers of MHRC during the inspection.
Briefing the MHRC Chairperson, the Children Home functionary said that the children are sent to private schools to get better education.
He added that the Children Home receives grants from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India through the State Social Welfare Department.
The MHRC Chairperson expressed appreciation that the Children Home was able to raise some money by selling flowers while adding that the condition of the accommodations provided to the children are also satisfactory.
It was further informed to the MHRC Chairperson that even though the Manipur State Aids Control Society provides some necessary medicines to the children, the Home has to bear all the expenses in case of other illnesses.
Upon learning this, Justice UB Saha assured that the Office of MHRC will take up the matter with the Health Department, Government of Manipur.
