Imphal, February 23 2024:
Imphal-Jiribam highway (NH-37) has been cut off by landslide at Kambiron following incessant rainfall since Thursday.
As a result, around 100 goods laden trucks including tanker trucks have been stranded.
Normal flow of traffic has been disrupted in Kambiron area of Noney district on account of the landslide.
It is reported that Noney district administration has been working hard to clear the debris using heavy machinery.
Subsequent upon the landslide, TTs ferrying petroleum and petroleum products have stopped movement on the highway.
The landslide occurred at a section where NHIDCL has been cutting the hill slope to make space for the highway.
Empty TTs which left Imphal yesterday somehow managed to cross the landslide affected site only this afternoon after a long and hard struggle.
With the highway blocked, there was no movement of empty TTs from Imphal today.
As such, the escort service was also cancelled.
Following the violent crisis which erupted in May last year, petroleum TTs which used to move on Imphal-Dimapur highway shifted to Imphal-Jiribam highway.
