NEYDO appeals Government to repair accident prone Porompat DC road

Imphal, November 18 2023: The portion of Porompat DC Road lying in front of Porompat Water Supply complex has become accident prone and potholes-ridden stretch.

Reportedly, there are many big potholes in front of the water supply's gate and several portions of Porompat DC road as the road is being taken regularly by scores of Government and private heavy water tankers.

Apart from being bumpy, the already pathetic condition of the stretch is being worsened by the water which spilled from the water tankers and gathered at the potholes, causing serious inconvenience and risk to the commuters.

Though many important Government offices and departments are also situated on either side of the Porompat DC Road, it's been a while that the maintenance work was done for the important stretch.

School buses, vans and office workers also take the road regularly.

Reportedly, it is the frequent movement of heavy water tankers which worsened the condition of the important road stretch in Imphal East.

It is further said that many vehicles have skidded along the road as the stretch is muddy most of the time due to the water which spilled from tankers and accumulated at the potholes.

Speaking to the media, president of North Eastern Youth Development Organisation (NEYDO) Kshetrimayum Hemantakumar said that the offices of Imphal East DC and SP are also situated along Porompat DC Road apart from all other Government departments.

It's been a while that the road is in a bad shape, he said and added that the condition is more pathetic in front of the water supply scheme and DC office.

Saying that the road is muddy most of the time and unfit for vehicular movement, Hemantakumar continued that several people have met accidents along the road stretch due to lack of maintenance.

Appealing to the Government to repair the road stretch, he said that they may forbid movement of water tankers along Porompat DC road and launch agitations if the Government doesn't pay any attention.
