Imphal, September 26 2023:
Taking serious note of the murder of two students, whose viral photos have surfaced on social media after they went missing for around three months, Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS), Manipur has said that the case should be handed over to the NIA.
In a press statement, FOCS pointed out that even as the people were demanding to trace whereabouts of the two missing students and the case being handled by the CBI, photos of the two students before and after they were killed surfaced on social media creating tense situation again.
As there is no progress in the case, the government should understand the sentiments of the people and hand over the case to the NIA.
Stating that brutally mur dering two students by armed Chin-Kuki militants is an inhuman act, FOCS said that the state government should take up specific measures for arresting the culprits involved in the act and give them befitting punishment.
FOCS maintained that the seemingly existence of separate laws in the hills and the valley should be taken serious note of by the government.
There is one law in the valley and another different law in Kuki dominated areas including Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Moreh.
