Putting faith in CM's response, JAC agrees to perform last rites of Abemcha

The JAC against the 'brutal killing of Leichonbam ongbi Abemcha Leima by Kuki narco-terrorists' has agreed to claim the body of Abemcha (39) tomorrow.
The representatives of the JAC which was formed today met Chief Minister N Biren Singh at the CM's Bungalow this evening.
After the meeting, co-convenor of the JAC N Bobby said that they raised seven demands to the Chief Minister.
Saying that they got a positive response from the Chief Minister, he added that they will claim the body tomorrow, putting faith in the assurances given by N Biren.
Meanwhile, in a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, the JAC said that Abemcha was injured in the attack by Kuki militants near Don Bosco School, Phayeng on November 7 at around 11.30 am.
She breathed her last at RIMS at 1.25 pm yesterday.
Listing their demands in the memorandum, the JAC asked the Government to provide adequate compensation to the victim's family and also a Government job to the next of her kin.
The resolution not to claim the body was taken after the JAC held a meeting with the family members, CSO leaders and locals of the deceased at Phayeng Bazar Community Hall.
The JAC also resolved to lay the mortal remains of Abemcha to rest at Kangchup Ching (Kangchup Songlung).
Further urging the Government to drive away the Kuki militants who have been launching attacks at the Meetei villages at the foothills of Sekmai and Lamsang constituencies, the committee said that the Government must also evict the Kuki immigrants who encroached into Kangchup Reserved Forest, Kangchup Chiru Reserved Forest and Meetei villages in Imphal West which were given by the Manipur State Durbar.
The Government also needs to monitor the security lapses in the adjoining areas of Imphal West and Kangpokpi and take up necessary actions, the JAC demanded while cautioning that they (the JAC) will hold different kinds of protest until the Government fulfils their demands.
The body of Abemcha is at RIMS mortuary.
