Imphal, March 01 2024:
People from Napat Tangjeng Ahallup, who have been displaced from their native village, urged the government to take necessary measures for resolving the present crisis and ensure their safe return to their ancestral homes.
Representing womenfolk of the locality in Kumbi assembly constituency, who are staying in the Wangoo Sellungkhong Upper Primary School relief camp, one Th Tampha said that they never expected that the violence would affect them despite escalation of tension and firing incidents in other parts of the state as there was a peace committee under the supervision of Sugnu MLA K Ranjit.
However, the peace committee could not do much compelling them to run for their lives leaving behind their properties eventually ending up at the relief camp for the last 10 months, she said while urging the government to initiate effective measures for resolving the crisis, restoring peace, and ensuring their safe return to home.
Tampha also appealed against internal conflict in the community, especially when the state is facing a threat, and called for a united stand against the aggression of armed Kuki militants.
She urged Aram-bai Tenggol volunteers to reconsider their decision of giving up the responsibility of protecting the vulnerable Meetei settlements in the foothill area.
She also urged the state security forces to gather all support they could to defend the state, its territory, integrity and identity.
