Dr Lorho flags off TB Elimination project

Outer Manipur MP Dr Lorho Pfoze flagged off a TB Elimination project titled 'An innovative approach for engaging students and women's organisations to improve TB case finding and treatment adherence' in Senapati district.
The project with the theme 'Community involvement as a catalyst for TB elimination' was nagged off from at DRDA Hall, Senapati in the presence of Mao MLA Losii Dikho, additional deputy director general of Central TB Division, Dr Sanjay Kumar Mattoo, Senapati DC Mamoni Doley and ICMR-NIRT director Dr Padmapriyadarsini.
Before flagging off the project, Dr Lorho urged the gathering to make Senapati the first in the state to be declared as TB free district and then to the nation so that the feat can be achieved before Prime Minister's target to make the country free from TB by 2025.He also said the project is achievable if CSOs join hands towards TB elimination in the district.
MLA Losii Dikho, in his speech, lauded the CSOs for their active participation and urged CSO leaders to give their best to make Senapati a model district.
The flagging off ceremony was also attended by DLOs, CEO, ADC Senapati, CSOs and Church leaders, tribe leaders, village headmen and society leaders.
Giving a presentation on the project, ICMR-NIRT scientist Dr A Stephen said that the project is being taken up in the district in collaboration with ICMR-NIRT, National TB Elimination Programme, Directorate of Health Services, RIMS, Senapati District Students' Association and Senapati District Women's Association.
The project aims to determine incremental increase in TB case finding and improve treatment adherence and outcome as compared to usual TB programmes.
