Two remanded in mysterious death case

The Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East has remanded two accused persons to 10 days police custody for further investigation into the mysterious death of Laishram Kiran (40) .
The deceased, Laishram Kiran was son of (L) Jatra Singh of Kontha Ahallup Maning Leikai.
He died on November 17, a day after he was found unconscious on a roadside at Heingang Khong.
The two accused have been identified as Laishram Mukta (37) and Haorongbam Romen (43) of Kontha Ahallup Maning Leikai.
According to the accused persons, three of them had gone to Pangei to buy some articles on November 16.On their way back home, the accused persons claimed some unknown armed persons who came in a Gypsy vehicle abducted Laishram Kiran.
Later, they claimed L Kiran was found unconscious on the roadside at Heingang Khong at around 11 pm with injury marks on his body.
Laishram Mukta informed his sister and then family members brought L Kiran home.
Kiran was rushed to RIMS at around 3 am the next day on November 17, but doctors declared him brought dead.
Police had then detained the two accused persons, Laishram Mukta and Haorongbam Romen for interrogation.
During the interrogation, the statements of the two didn't match.
Subsequently, they were arrested for further investigation.
The two accused were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East by Heingang police with a prayer for custodial detention for 10 days.
The Court on perusal of the case record remanded the two to 10 days police custody till November 27.Post mortem of the deceased was conducted today at JNIMS morgue in the presence of a Magistrate with full video coverage.
The body has not been claimed by the family, and is being kept at JNIMS morgue.
