Khemchand hails harmony in Jiribam

RD&PR minister Y Khemchand hailed the peaceful atmosphere maintained in Jiribam despite the settlement of mixed communities during this crisis period and said that the way the district maintains peace could be a message to the whole state.
The minister was in a two-day visit in the district, which he arrived via Silchar Airport.
Upon his arrival in the district on Saturday, the minister interacted with leaders of different CSOs, Meira Paibi Lup and student bodies at the District Panchayat Resource Centre located in the DC office complex at Chingdong Leikai.
During the interaction, the public leaders highlighted shortcomings in the district in terms of health, education, road transport among others.
They also urged the minister to open mobile internet in the district keeping in view of the peaceful atmosphere in the district while drawing attention to the inconveniences people are facing due to the internet ban.
The minister hailed the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere in the district and assured to convey their demands to the chief minister.
While interacting with the media, the minister said that the Panchayat Resource Centre was completed in just eight months by the Rural Engineering Department against the stipulated deadline of 15 months.
The department has included 29 km of road projects involving five roads and five bridges in the PMGSY Phase 3, which is the longest among all the districts, he said, and assured to conduct further survey to add more roads under the project.
BJP Manipur Pradesh vice-president Ch Chidananda and other party leaders accompanied the minister during his visit.
Later, in the afternoon, the minister visited a relief camp at the district sports complex at Bidyanagar and interacted with the displaced people, besides distributing relief materials to the IDPs.
