Jiribam, November 19 2023:
Unknown miscreants looted cash, gold and phones worth around Rs 7 lakh from the house of one Makhanlal Roy at Latingkhal village under Jiribam police station on November 17 night.
Speaking to media persons, Makhanlal, who is also Latingkhal Gram Ranchayat Administrative Committee chairman, recalled that on the day of robbery there was power outage in the village and raining heavily.
Around 11:30 pm on November 17 when his son went out of the house he was overpowered by around 12 armed persons and asked to him (Makhanlal) to open the door.
As soon as he opened the door, three masked men pointed pistols at him, with one shoving him to the porch as the two others barged inside the room, he claimed.
Makhanlal continued that after entering the house the intruders opened two trunks and two briefcases and looted cash amounting to Rs 4 lakh, four gold bangles, one necklace and three rings belonging to his wife approximately worth Rs 3 lakh along with three mobile phones.
He also contended that though the looters spoke in Hindi to him, they had tribal features and accent.
Makhanlal also stated that after looting all the items they locked him in a room.
As on the day there was no power and was raining heavily his neighbour did not come to know about the incident.
Later, the looters fired a round near his house and left, he further said.
Mentioning that he has filed a complaint about the incident at Jiribam police station, Makhanlal urged the police to arrest the culprits and punish them.
