Minister pitches for understanding history of Manipur

Health minister Dr Sapam Ran-jan has stressed the need for students to understand the history of Manipur so as to make themselves capable of leading the way towards a better and prosperous future.
Speaking at the meritorious cum incentive award distribution function to students of Free Progress Academy, Konthoujam who secured high marks in the HSLC examination held on Saturday, Dr Ranjan commended the school authorities for facilitating enrolment of 23 students who have been affected by the ethnic violence and are staying in relief camps.
He also assured that the government will do whatever necessary for these students.
While informing that the Education Department has included the history of Manipur in the school curriculum so as to enable the students get acquainted with the history of Manipur, the minister expressed that understanding history of the state will help the students become responsible and prosperous citizens of the future.
Maintaining that consistent effort is a necessity for gaining comprehensive education, Dr Ranjan also appealed to the students of Free Progress Academy to work hard and come out with flying colours in the upcoming class X examination.
He also urged the teachers to dispense their duties diligently.
Presided over by Relief and Disaster Management director KG Daigong Gangmei, the function was also attended by ZEO Zone 1 Sucheta Khumukcham, All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association advisor N Tomba and Academy principal L Indrakumar as guests of honour.
