Imphal, August 12 2015:
Former Minister and CPI Manipur State Council deputy secretary N Mangi distributed ration items like rice, salt and candles to around 1000 flood affected families of Kumbi AC today.
Borayangbi, Sandangkhong, Thongthak Thongkha, Laingoubi Mayai, Laingoubi Khulakpat, Chairel Laikon, Chairel Leingangtabi, Chairel Khongbaltabi, Nungou Turel Khongbal, Paobitek, Changjeng and Napet villages were largely affected by the recent flood.
Mangi distributed 3 kg of rice, one packet of salt and one packet of candle each to 1000 families of these villages.
Mangi said that he could accomplish the endeavour with the help of his well-wishers and friends.
Clarifying that the distribution did not have any connection with election, Mangi said that he did it as he wanted to help the flood affected people.
He also thanked the socials workers and local MLA for extending assistance to flood affected people.
He said that the flood might not have occurred had the sunken portion of the right main canal of Khuga dam been repaired before the onset of rainy season by the Government.
He also demanded the Government to repair the right hand side canal of Khuga dam, another canal which passes through a foothill at the rear portion of Sagang village and other breached embankments before another flood hits the area.
He also demanded that roads under PMGSY and Manipur Rural Roads Development Agency be constructed above the water level.
Mangi further demanded the Government to provide compensation to all the flood affected families after sending a detailed report to the Centre.
