Work on Sanamahi Kiyong gaining momentum

The construction work on the Sanamahi Kiyong with the aim of setting up a university of Sanamahi religion at the foothill of Nongmaijing is gaining pace.
The construction started in 2006 with funds raised from the public through donation.
The 75-feet tall temple has seven stories representing the seven clans (Salai) of the Meeteis.
The seven stories would be painted according to the colours of the seven clans.
The construction work has cost Rs 2 crores so far and total project cost has been estimated at Rs 3 crores.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, a member of Layingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup, Sanamahi Lainingkol told that the temple was constructed as per the resolution adopted at a public meeting held in 2002 with an aim to set up a university for Sanamahi religion.
The Laiyingthou Sanamahi Thougal Kanglup, Sanamahi Lainingkol Trust was established to save the cultures, traditions, values, philosophy, ideology, sociology, economy and politics of Sanamahi religion and Manipur from various powerful external forces which invade the state from times to time.
Besides, the University aims to impart the rich values and philosophy of Sanamahi religion along with other religions of the world.
Furthermore, the trust is planning to establish other institutes for Indigenous languages, literatures, religion, culture, philosophy, history, economy, anthropology, sociology and politics of other communities in the world, the member informed.
Expressing gratitude to the people of the state for their cooperation in construction of the Kiyong, the member also appealed to the people for further cooperation towards completion of the entire project.
