Mini sports complex, football field inaugurated

Chief Minister N Biren Singh has appealed to all concerned to stop imposing bandh or blockade for every discontentment keeping in mind the consequences it will have on the public.
The Chief Minister made the appeal after inaugurating a Mini Sports Complex at Akampat SEYO ground, Imphal East and a football field with RCC gallery at Chajing in Imphal West under Khelo India Scheme.
The Mini Sports Complex and the football field were constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore and Rs 2.08 crore respectively.
The inauguration programme was organised by the Department of Youth Affairs & Sports.
At the occasion, the Chief Minister said that imposing bandh and blockade greatly affects all but it is the daily wagers and those who make their living by opening shops and vending goods and vegetables who suffer more.

Reminding that the High School Leaving Certificate exam also began today, he again appealed to one and all to shun the habit of calling bandh and blockade for every grievance.
Claiming that Manipur has started heading towards normalcy, though gradually, N Biren added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other Central leadership have been monitoring the situation in Manipur.
The Centre has been sending relief and study material for people and students taking refuge at relief camps too, he added.
Saying that the Government didn't anticipate the rally of ATSUM of May 3, 2023 to become violent, he added that the Government was caught off-guard as the rallyists became aggressive at different places in contrast to their expectation.
The Chief Minister appealed to every community residing in Manipur to stop advocating exclusive interest and work in the common good of the State.
"Let's endure some difficulty together to protect the integrity of Manipur and secure the future of present and next Manipuri generations," he appealed to all Manipuris.
The State Government has been working hard to bring a solution and resettle the affected people, he said and added that the State Government has to continue developmental programmes even during these hard times.
Recalling the hardship faced by sportspersons in the past due to financial constraints, the Chief Minister informed that various welfare schemes have been introduced for sportspersons now.
The Chief Minister assured that he would prioritize construction of a gallery and a boundary wall around the hockey stadium at Akampat.
About the football field at Chajing, the Chief Minister said that the State Government would consider constructing a VIP gallery in the complex.
He also stated that Manipur had gone through various challenges in the past too and they were resolved with collective efforts.
The Government has a firm stand to protect Manipur and would firmly stand against those elements trying to distort the State's integrity, N Biren added.
About the Farmer Management System app which was launched yesterday, the Chief Minister claimed that the farmers won't face the problem of fertilizer shortage anymore and there will be transparency in distribution as all records of fertilizer transportation, delivery and availability in stock will be uploaded on the app.
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam was the functional president.
He stated that many players from Manipur had represented the State as well as the country in different arenas and had brought laurels.
The Government has been taking up various development works in the field of games and sports, recognising the contribution of players, he added.
He appreciated the Chief Minister for his concern on the sports sector and introducing welfare schemes like Chief Minister's Sportspersons Livelihood Guarantee Scheme and others.
Power Minister Th Biswajit, Social Welfare Minister H Dingo, Transport Minister Khashim Vashum, MLAs Karam Shyam, Kh Ibomcha, Kongkham Robindro, Khuraijam Loken, Th Arunkumar, Sapam Kunjakeswor, Th Shanti, Md Ashab Uddin and senior officials of Youth Affairs and Sports Department also attended the programme.
