AR organizes tree plantation drive

Imphal, July 30 2020: Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles and 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organized a mega tree plantation drive at various Company Operating Bases and Border village over a period of three days and planted a total of 4252 saplings.

As part of the plantation drive, Mantripukhri Battalion organised tree plantation at Sawombung, Chingmeirong and Yaingangpokpi Company Operation Bases.

A total of 1490 saplings which included fruit bearing trees and other saplings were planted during the event.

Over 113 troops participated in the drive.

Likewise, the Keithelmanbi Battalion planted saplings at Singjamei, Lilong and Canchipur Company Operation Bases.

A total of 1140 saplings were planted and over 93 troops participated in the drive.

The Thoubal Battalion also carried out tree plantation at Thoubal Company Operation Base, planting 1572 saplings by over 450 troops who participated in the event.

Subsequently, the Moreh Battalion conducted tree plantation drive at the border village of Gamnamphai.

Over 50 saplings of different varieties were planted by the locals in the presence of AR.

The village Chief and secretary thanked AR for initiating the tree plantation drive.
