Students of Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) today took to streets demanding immediate removal of the Principal-in-charge of the institute.
Around 300 students marched from the MIT campus Takyelpat on NH-37 towards the Governor's residence.
However they were blockaded by police at Sagolband Meino Leirak area, where they staged a sit-in-protest.
Later, two student representatives were allowed to hand over a memorandum to the Governor's office.
The agitating students said similar memoranda would be submitted to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and Education Minister M Okendra.
Alleging Principal-in-charge Dr Th Kulachandra is mishandling the institute, the memorandum demanded his removal from the post.

The institute does not organise any co-curricular acti- vity or take up welfare programmes for the students, the memorandum said and alleged that Kulachandra has been misusing the fund of the institute which was collected from the students at the time of admission.
It further said no private firm has ever tur-ned up to recruit MIT students due to absence of a proper Placement Cell.
Despite collection of a huge amount of money at the time of admission, no appropriate development has been taken up so far, it said and added that the institute has not brought out college magazine till date.
Further, the memorandum said that hostel of the institute is being plagued with poor maintenance of rooms, absence of security guards, scarcity of water and lack of rooms.
Lab equipment are outdated and no internet connection is provided to the students, the memorandum said and added that the books available at the library are in sharp contrast to the syllabus.
