ADC Chairman gives Council Day message

Addressing the public of Churachandpur on the eve of 40th Council Day, Chairman of ADC Churachandpur Langkhanpau Guite today appealed on the people to implant a sense of purity to their life and wishes peace and harmony to the people of the district.
Narrating the activities of the council during his tenure, the Chairman during his address said that instilling a sense of cleanliness and purity of mind to the people have always been their basic goal.
The decision to celebrate tomorrow with a mass social work under the leadership of the council members themselves is intended to be in tune with that objective, he said.
He also praise the efforts made by various women bodies to ward-off the menace of drug abuse and other social evils from the society.
'The ADC Churachandpur will always assist any effort taken to instill a sense of purity in the society,' he said.
Langkhanpau Guite has maintained that empowering the council was their chief agenda ever since assuming office and had indeed put into motion a good number of activities to realize that agenda.
Demanding the implementation of 6th Schedule of the Constitution of India, narrowing the infrastructure deficit in the hills, improvement of law and order, transferring of all land records of the district to the district, plans for town expansion are some of their ongoing activities, he said.
The council representatives from the entire hill districts have already apprised the President, the Prime Minister, the Governor and the Chief Minister, he added.
On a more spiritual note, the Chairman said 'the Bible' has been kept inside the Council hall and devotion was always held prior to every sitting.
Elaborating on the cleanliness drive planned for tomorrow, he said any willing person can join them in their own convenient way.
He also appealed on the public to make full use of the 5 tipper trucks the council has put into service to dispose their waste and not scattered them along the streets or left them to clog the nullahs.
Anyone found dumping waste insensitively would be arrested and booked according to the law and will get their trade license cancelled, he warned.
The 26 member Churachandpur district council has, during the current tenure, held 7 sittings, 17 informal meetings and over 20 executive meetings since assuming office in 2010 .
