The Tangkhul Naga Valley Students' Association (TNVSA) has strongly condemned the carjacking incident perpetrated by unknown miscreants on a Tangkhul individual reportedly at gunpoint yesterday and demanded swift justice.
According to a press release issued by Mathingso Jajo, president TNVSA and Worngachan Muivah, general secretary TNVSA, the victim Varemi was inside his Maruti Suzuki Brezza car at a car-wash at Ragailong in Imphal when seven persons came in a Bolero and asked for the keys of his car at gunpoint.
Shortly after, they took his car and left, alleged the statement.
Adding that this is not the first instance of Tangkhuls being harassed and intimidated in Imphal during the ongoing conflict, TNVSA has also condemned the recent kidnapping of Tamreingam Shithung, a student of Liberal College on January 29 .
Stating that these incidents have created a chasm of mistrust and animosity between the Tangkhuls and other concerned community in Imphal valley, TNVSA urged the Government to deliver justice and take up befitting action against the erring criminals.
