First anniversary of Manipur crisis observed, tributes paid to martyrs

The first anniversary of the unprecedented aggression launched by Kuki narco-terrorists on May 3, 2023, was observed widely in the State today by offering tribute to the martyrs who had laid down their lives in the struggle to protect the integrity of Manipur and its territorial boundary.
The Kongpal Chanam Leikai Development Organisation (KCDO), Pukchaopat, Imphal East today observed the first anniversary of the unprecedented aggression as "Raising Day for Indigenous Peoples" under the theme, "Salute to the Martyrs who have Awakened the Indigenous People" .
The event was held at the KCDO Community Hall, Pukchaopat, Kongpal Chanam Leikai, Imphal East.
It was attended by Kshetri Tama, former Up-Adhyaksha, Imphal East Zilla Parishad, and Ksh Joychandra Singh, president KCDO as presidium members.

The programme began with a welcome address delivered by Toijam Biren Singh, general secretary KCDO followed by the observation of one minute silence and offering of floral tributes to the brave heroes who gave their lives during the ongoing conflict.
Jayshree Naorem, member KCDO, elaborated on how the prolonged conflict has affected the youths of Manipur including the school and college going students.
Thoudam Jagat Singh, advisor Indigenous Peoples Front of Manipur, also attended the programme as a resource person.
The event culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by Naorem Jatishor, treasurer KCDO.
Moreover, the Federation of Haomee (FoH) also commemorated the one-year anniversary of the violence that shook the region on May 3, 2023 as "2nd Indigenous Genocide Day" at its office premises in Imphal.
The programme was presided by Sapamcha Jadumani, president of FoH.
Federation of Haomee Kakching District Branch also commemorated the day at Mantak Kom Khun with MK Mangte Kom as the president of the function.
During the event, the gathering observed two minutes of silence to pay respect to the indigenous people who were killed by armed Kuki militants in the conflict.
Likewise, the People Protection Committee (PPC), Konthoujam and PPC Women Wing also commemorated the anniversary of the tragedy that unfolded on May 3 last year by offering floral tributes to the brave heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland at Konthoujam Ima Lairembi premises today.
The participants also hoisted black flags and prayed for the thousands of people who have been displaced by the ongoing conflict and are currently taking refuge at relief camps set up across the State.
They also shouted various slogans urging the State Government to end the conflict and restore peace & normalcy in Manipur at the earliest.
Similar programmes were also organised today by the Federation of Indigenous People's Democratic Movement (FIDM), Laipham Khunou Makha Leikai Apunba Lup and Malem Ima Kanba Lup (MIKL), Kangleipak.
During the events, prayers and floral tributes were offered to the brave heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for the cause of the motherland in the ongoing conflict.
The participants also remembered the sacrifices made by the martyrs who gave their lives fighting the Kuki Narco Terrorists to protect the territorial integrity of Manipur and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace in the heavenly abode.
