Farmers' training programme held

To bring sustainable development in agricultural sector, a one day Within State Farmers' Training programme on the theme "Integrated Farming System Towards Sustainable Agricul-ture" was held today at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Agriculture, Imphal.
The training programme was organized by the Agricultural Technology Manage- ment Agency (ATMA) Churachandpur district.
M Gyanendro, Project Director, Churachandpur district graced the function as the president while Dr L Nabachandra, Professor and HOD (Agronomy) Central Agricultural University, Dr Kh Ibohal, Associate Professor (Endomology) CAU and Dr N Mohendro, Subject Matter Specialist, KVK Hen-bung (Animal Husbandry) attended the the training programme as the resource persons.
To increase agricultural productivity, understanding the changing technology of agriculture is a must, stated Dr L Nabachandra who graced the function as the chief guest.
He added that with proper management, crop yield can be limitless.
Using high yielding variety of crop species must be practised by farmers for progressive results, he added.
"It is unfortunate that farmers of the State have started to abandon the farming profession when boundless possibilities of surplus production are achievable," added Nabachandra.
Meanwhile, I Radhacharan, Project Director, Bishnupur district, stated that such training programme is to impart technical knowledge to increase production in agriculture, horticulture and animal husbandry.
Subsequently, it will result in economic growth.
He further urged the farmers to co-operate with ATMA for successful implementation of the techniques which are to be taught in the training programme.
More than 70 farmers from Churachandpur district participated in the training programme.
