Exhibition / Buyers-Sellers meet inaugurated to promote local products, marketing avenues

A two-day 'Exhibition cum Sales and Buyers Sellers meet' was inaugurated today at Khashimla Women Market complex, Hungpung Village in Ukhrul by Deputy Commissioner Ukhrul Kengoo Zuringla.
The two-day event is organised by the Ukhrul District Community Resource Management Society (UDCRMS) with the main objective to promote local resources and to provide marketing avenues to the rural farmers of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
Lily Rose Jajo DPD, UDCRMS while delivering the welcome speech highlighted that the event is being organised to showcase the local products and create a market linkage between the buyers and producers in order to bring a sustainable economy.

Speaking as the chief guest, Ukhrul DC elaborated on the important roles and contribution of farmers to the society and in transforming the local economy.
She maintained that the farmers must support each other and make collective efforts to boost the local market.
She also urged the farmers not to compromise their product quality to attract more buyers.
The DC further stressed on the importance of selecting suitable crops as per the soil quality and the altitude of areas for better annual crop yield.
Notably hundreds of visitors turned up for the event where more than 45 stalls were being put up by various Natural Resource Management Groups (NaRMG) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) from villages under UDCRMS project areas.
Local products which include U-morok (King chilli), banana, orange, perkia assorted pickles, weaving and handloom items, candies, ginger, broomsticks, honey, squash, black pottery among others were put up for sale.
This year's ''Exhibition and Sales and Seller-Buyer meet " is the 17th edition and it basically focuses on promoting local resources by creating a common platform for buyers and producers.
Today's inaugural programme was attended by CEO Ukhrul ADC David Kashungnao, TSL president Thingreiphy Lungharwo, THYSO president Hubert Lunghar, VAs of Hungpung and others.
