Civic action programmes aim at promoting people's welfare

A month-long training programme for tailoring for poor and needy women began at Loitang Leikinthabi village under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East district.
The tailoring training programme is being conducted as a part of the civic action programme organized by 69 Battalion CRPF under the aegis of IGP Manipur and Nagaland sector CRPF to generate self employment for these women as well as to make them self reliant.
On completion of the training programme, foot operated sewing machines will be distributed to these needy women in a befitting ceremony, said a press release by 69 Battalion CRPF.
In another civic action programme organized at Poirei Nawakon Koirengei (Children Home) in Imphal East district, solar street lights were installed with panels at the required places.
This will be a great help to these children for their routine activities even at the time of power cut.
Meanwhile, in a civic action programme organized today at Keishamthong in Imphal West district, football and volleyball sports items were distributed to the team of Dania Football Club of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak.
Bajrang Lal, Commandant-69 Bn CRPF graced the occasion as chief guest in presence of other senior officers, jawans of the unit and prominent persons of the said area.
Speaking at the occasion, the chief guest sensitized the gathering that the purpose of organizing the programme is to extend helping hand to the poor and needy people/sportsmen to encourage them to develop their talents in the field of self employment and sports.
