Training programme on climate change concludes

Imphal, August 12 2015:
A 10-day long training programme on "Climate Change: Approaches and Strategies for Mitigation and Sustainable Agriculture" has concluded on Wednesday at ICAR Research Complex, Lamphelpat.
Dr N Prakash, Joint Director ICAR Manipur Centre was the functional president at the closing function.
The training course was jointly organized by Dr Lohit Kumar Baishya, Senior Scientist, Agronomy, Dr Kh Rishikanta Singh, Scientist Agricultural Economics and Dr MR Sahoo Senior Scientist, Horticulture of ICAR Manipur Centre with financial assistance and technical support from NICRA.
The training programme was designed to train the agricultural professionals on various mitigated strategies for crop and livestock production with special reference to location specific climate change scenario.
The present and future challenges in food security, livelihood, soil health, changes in season, etc due to climate change were thoroughly discussed in this short course.
Over 27 trainees from various institutions like CAU, KVKs, ATMA, SKN Agriculture University, Jobner (Rajasthan) attended it.
