VSAI cruise to 3rd Sangai Trophy title

Veteran Sports Association Imphal (VSAI), Thangmeiband claimed the title of the 3rd Sangai Trophy Veteran Football Championship organised by United Veteran Football Association, Manipur at Mapal Kangjeibung after a 3-0 win against FLAM, Babupara in the final today.
FLAM and VSAI played out a goalless draw during normal time as both the sides could not find their way ahead despite their chances.
The game was then decided via penalty shoot out wherein VSAI emerge on top with a 3-0 finish as K Khellen Singh, M Bimolchand and Shyamsunder all scored while none of the FLAM players found the target.
Winners FLAM were feted with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,00 along with the title trophy donated by RK Rameshwar Singh, managing director RK Fortune Developers Pvt Ltd in fond memory of his late father RK Balaram Singh during the valedictory function attended by Bobby Waikhom IAS, Commissioner, Youth Affairs and Sports; Dr RK Hemakumar Singh, Principal, Manipur Institute of Technology, Takyelpat and Sunil Elangbam, secretary, Manipur Olympic Association as dignitaries.
Runners up FLAM were also rewarded with a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 donated by RK Rameshwar in the legendary footballers of the State.
Individual and other team prizes donated by many football enthusiasts were also handed out on the occasion.
A Jayenta of FLAM and S Lokeshore (GK) of VSAI emerged player of the match and bagged Rs 3,000 each.
S Lokeshore also claimed the best goalkeeper award consisting of a trophy and a cash prize worth Rs 5,000.N Rajesh of FLAM, M Bimolchand of VSAI, A Jayanta of FLAM were named respectively named best defender, best midfielder and best striker and honoured with trophies and cash prize of Rs 5,000 each.
Jangminlen Guite of SHDVFA emerged top scorer of the tournament for below 45 years category and received a cash prize of Rs 5,000 and a trophy while N Uttam of VSAI got the top scorer award (Rs 5,000 and a trophy) for above 45 years category.
VSAI's M Bimolchand and M Shyamsunder were feted with the best player awards (Rs 5,000 and a trophy) for below 45 years and above 45 years categories respectively while TL Minthang Vaiphei (62 years and 2 months) of FVFA, Uyumpok bagged the oldest best player award (Rs 5,000 and a trophy) .
United Veteran Football Association was also feted with the best team organiser award worth Rs 5,000 while TBSFA, Taobungkhok team and JFA, Patsoi received the best contingent and 2nd best contingent for the March Pass on the opening day.
Sirti FC, Chandel bagged the most enthusiastic team award (Rs 5,000 and a trophy) while FC Imphal, Kwakeithel were feted with fair play team award (Rs 10,000 and a trophy) .
