Manipur emerges champion in NE Zone Sports Climbing

Imphal, October 10 2011:
As the 13th North East Zone Sports Climbing Competition, 2011 concluded today at the Kangla Rocks and Climbing Wall, Minuthong, Imphal, Manipur emerged team champion outshining other states while Nagaland was awarded the title of Best Team.
Manipur won 13 gold, nine silver and six bronzes medals to grab the top spot at the end of the competition.
Meghalaya with one gold, two silver and five bronze medals won the Runners Up title.
Manipur's M Shyamson secured the top spot in Men's Open Lead while Overmoon Suchiang and Pilastar Nongsiej of Meghalaya were placed in the second and third positions.
Shyamson again grabbed the top spot in Men's Open Speed event leaving behind Sochi Meto of Arunachal Pradesh and H Akum Yimchunger of Nagaland who won the second and third spot.
With Shyamson again on to top spot of Men's Open Bouldering, Pilastar Nongsiej of Meghalaya and Yumnam Brojen of Manipur secured the second and third positions respectively.
The situation was same with Manipur's Senjam Devala who secured all the top spots in Women's Open Lead, Women's Open Speed and Women's Open Bouldering events.
Likewise Pheiroijam Sushirani of Manipur also won the second positions in all three events of women's open categories.
The third spots of Lead, Speed and Bouldering were claimed by Meghaklaya's Ngandarihun Sohshang, Kayleigh Petra Nong and Wansuk Myrthong respectively.
Ph Khelendra was declared the best male climber and Senjam Devala the best female climber.
