Jiribam, October 10 2011:
The 120 hours bandh called by the Jiribam District Demand Committee in pursuit of their demand to upgrade Jiribam sub-division into a full fledged revenue district has been continuing since October 8 .
Though shops, Government offices and commercial establishments remained shut, loaded trucks coming from Assam have reached Tatbung via Jiribam without any hindrance, reports our correspondent.
The trucks are awaiting security escorts at Tatbung.
Meanwhile, bandh supporters burnt tyres and effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi at different places along NH 37 .
Till date, there is no report of any untoward incident.
Yet, commandos, Jiri Police, 5th MR and 22 Assam Rifles have been keeping close vigil in the sub-division to thwart any subversive activity.
