National U-14 School Games Archery : Manipur move one place up to top medal tally

Imphal, November 07 2017:
The second day of archery competition organised by the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports under the supervision of School Games Federation of India as a part of 53rd National School Games 2017 saw a close race between Manipur and Haryana in the medal tally .
Manipur are leading the medal tally of the competition held at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, with 15 medals including 6 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze medals closely followed by Haryana with 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.
Jharkhand are in the third position with 1 gold medal, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals .
In today’s 50+50 m compound girls’ event, Priya Gujar of CBSE bagged the gold medal with 647 points while Kh Debiya of Manipur finished second for silver medal with 615 points followed by Sanik More from Maharashtra who scored 555 points to claim the bronze medal .
H Teuton Khuman of Manipur scored a credible 670 points to win the gold medal in the 50+50 m compound boys’ event followed by Vikram Shinde with 625 points.
Johnson Leichombam of Manipur bagged the bronze medal with 622 points .
In the girls’ compound team event, Manipur team which features Kh Debiya Chanu, Mutum Prity Devi, Preety Kshetrimayum and Jenifer Paonam managed to add one gold medal taking the tally to 1634 points against Maharashtra and Jharkhand which respectively claimed the silver and the bronze medal .
In the Indian Round, Jharkhand’s girls team comprising of Nikita Kumari, Jyotikumari, Anukha Sinha and Kumari Simaran Lata bagged the gold medal with 1953 points followed by Manipur which include Seetal Kumari, H Alphabati, S Chinglembi and H Sandhyarani with 1881 points.
Kendriya Bidyala finished third to take bronze.
Manipur team comprising of K Borish Singh, Sh Bikash Sharma, L Yohenba Singh and Nganthoiba AK bagged the gold medal in the team event of Indian Round with 2047 points .
Jharkhand and Haryana finished second and third with 1958 points and 1957 points respectively .
K Borish Singh opened Manipur’s gold medal account in the individual event of the Indian Round on Nov 6 while Sheetal Kumari claimed the bronze in the individual event.
