12th Mega Marathon Manipur : Shankar Man Thapa wins men's title, N Chaoba clinches women's

Shankar Man Thapa of 59 GTC Happy Valley Shillong clinched the men's title of the 12th Mega Marathon Manipur organised by United Peoples' Front Manipur today while N Chaoba who also recently claimed Police Commemoration Run title, won the women's title.
The run participated by around 1,500 athletes from Manipur and other parts of the country, was flagged off by Forest Minister Th Shyamkumar at 8.30 am from Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
The valedictory function of the marathon will be graced by Y Khemchand, Speaker Manipur Legislative Assembly; W Second, president UPF and Leishangthem Ajit, president Athletic Association of Manipur as dignitaries who also encouraged the athletes with respective prizes.
Shankar Man Thapa covered the course of the run in 1 hour 24 minutes and 47 seconds to claim the men's title and a cash prize of Rs 40,000 sponsored by RK Noyonsana of Palace Compound in memory of her son Jaydeep Gurumayum, along with citation and certificate.
LR Lulher from Senapati district took 1:04:03 to finish second and claimed Rs 30,000 sponsored by Huidrom Ibomcha of Singjamei Wangma Kshetrileikai in memory of his late father Huidrom Angangchou while Khaidem Rbshan of f erakhongsangbi finished third with a time of 1:05:37 to win Rs 20,000 sponsored by Oinam Romen Singh of Singjamei Oinam Thingel in memory of his late father Oinam Charlie Singh.
Ningombam Pholendro (1:05:52) of Bashikhong, Khundom Romajit (1:08:25) of Khundrakpam Awang Leikai, Ningthoujam Punshiba (1:08:32) of Naransena, Sapam Romesh (1:9:51) of Samurou Awang Leikai, Kangujam Bikram (1:11:01) of Leimapokpam Khunpham, Krishnakumar (1:11:28) of 2nd AR Churachandpur, Ksh Herojit (1:11:35) of Naransena, Md Sahidur Rahman (1:11:39) of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Wahengbam Angangcha (1:12:19) of Kakyai Makha Leikai, Naorem Tokio (1:12:31) of Pukhrambam Maning Leikai, Pheiroijam Toni (1:12:51) of Samurou Keithel and Md Sadique (1:13:13) of Thoubal Moijing respectively finished 4th to 15th positions at the run and claimed Rs 3,000 each sponsored by Oinam Priyo Singh of Singjamei Oinam Thingel in memory of his late father Oinam Manipur.
In the women's competition, Nongthombam Chaoba of Luwangsangbam completed the run in 1 hour 24 minutes and 47 seconds to win the women's title and claimed the first prize of Rs 40,000 sponsored by Nongmaithem Noren, Chief Engineer (Building) PWD in memory of his late son Nongmaithem Korounganba, along with citation and certificate.
Tayenjam Russia from Ngairangbam finished second with a time of 1:25:41 to claim Rs 30,000 sponsored by the Blossom School (Moirangkhom and Changangei) while Sagolshem Premila of Yairipok Kekru claimed the third price taking 1:26:34 and was awarded with Rs 20,000 sponsored by M Lokendro of Taothong Apheiba Lamsang.
The athletes who finished from 4th to 15th position and claimed Rs 3,000 each sponsored by Van Beusen store in Paona Keithel are: Mk Minarashi of Yairipok Tulihal, WM Rabiya of Lilong Heinoumakhong, Ningombam Sunita of Khabam Heibong Makhong, Ksh Sonam of Kakching, Khumanthem Anjana of Heirok Part II, Soibam Rebik Devi of Wangjing, Th Lanchenbi of Pishum Keithel, Ms Ajima of Yairipok Singa, Soubam Devikarani of Tekcham, Soraisam Sonia of Keinou Thongkha, Grace Yumnam of Nachou Chingdong and Y Ashangbi of Haoreibi.
