Club demands BOB to repay money withdrawn using fake cheque

UNESCO Club Manipur joint secretary Dr Th Chandramani Singh has demanded Bank of Baroda (BOB) to repay the amount which was allegedly withdrawn from the bank using a fake cheque, within November 8.This was stated during a press meet held at Khurai Ahongpung today, called jointly by UNESCO Club Manipur, Maichou Ningsing Lup Khurai, Lairembi Sintha Lup Khurai Ahongei, Leitai Nungdai Shinaipung, Wakha, Meitei Marup Manipur and Animal Gym.
Dr Chandramani claimed that the sum of Rs 33.30 lakh had been withdrawn using a fake cheque from one Narengbam Tilotama Devi and demanded BOB to repay the amount within November 8.He stated that amidst a cheque fraud of Rs 1 crore from BOB, MU Branch, occurrence of another fraud from the bank's branch at Changangei, is quite unfortunate and is a big criminal offence.
He further stated that such frauds have become a serious concern and the authorities concerned should not waste anymore time and should start necessary investigation into the matter.
Dr Chandramani demanded the bank to repay the amount with compensation and warned that various organisations/associations are set to launch different agitations including organising an all India campaign against the bank for violating civil laws.
He conveyed that people will begin to lose their trust in the banks if such incidents continue to happen.
