Imphal, November 04 2018:
Keirao AC MLA Lourembam Rameshwar Meetei has urged the people of the State to use and gift indigenous products on Ningol Chakouba.
Using products made in Manipur by the Manipuris will help promote local products producers and at the same time grow the State's economy, he said.
The MLA said this at a meeting held under the banner "Pradhan Mantri LPG Panchayat" at Kyamgei Maning Leikai today.
Urging Ningols (women) to use and bring local sweets when they visit their parental home on Ningol Chakouba, he encouraged brothers to gift their sisters handlooms and handicrafts products oh the occasion.
"Such use of local made products, sweets, handlooms and handicrafts products will go a long way towards empowering the local entrepreneurs, artists, vendors and weavers etc.
This tradition, if followed will also promote and sustain State's economy," he said.
He also urged the people of the State to use "Heingaan" (local sweet made of sugar and peanut) and other locally made products instead of sweets and betel nut-leaf (Kwa maru-mana) etc brought in from other States.
