22nd Junior National Wushu championship : Manipur finish with 21 medals in Taolu, 3 in Sanda

Imphal, August 12 2023:
Manipur settled with as many as 21 medals in Taolu and 3 medals in Sanda events in the 22nd Junior National Wushu Championship held from August 6 to 11 at Patliputra Sports Complex, Patna, Bihar.
Gurumayum Devesh Sharma shone in the individual Taolu events winning as many as three gold medals- one each in Nanquan, Nandao and Nangun and won Group event silver medal along with Thounganba Aheibam, Ngamba Aheibam, Angom William Singh, Okram Eyathoi Meitei, Wangthoi Thangjam, Wahengbam Bhumeshor Meitei, Olica Naorem.

Thounganba Aheibam also won a gold medal in Gunshu event, a silver medal in Changquan and a bronze medal in Daoshu event.
Ngamba Aheiba also won two individual gold medals in Tai Chi and Tai Chi Shan events as Angom William Singh bagged a silver medal in the Tai Chi Shan event.
Wangthoi Thangjam also won a gold medal each in Changquan and Daoshu events and a silver medal in Gunshu event and a bronze in Duel event.
Thingnam Sandeshwori Chanu also won a gold medal in the traditional Taichi Type as Okram Eyathoi Meitei won a duel event bronze.
Wahengbam Bhumeshor Meitei also won four medals including a silver medal in the Group event and a bronze medal each in Tai Chi Chuan, Taijijian and Duel events.
Olica Naorem in the meantime won a gold medal in Taiji Shan as Maibam Priyanka Devi won a gold medal in Traditional Taijijian event and a silver in Traditional Taichi Quan event.
Thokchom Prativa Devi in the meantime settled for a bronze medal in the Traditional double weapon event.
In the Sanda competitions, Haobijam Bhumika Devi bagged a gold medal in the below 52 kg event as Nongmaithem Thoithoiba (-70 kg) and Sorensangbam Avinash Singh (-60 kg) finished runners up to settle for silver medals.
The State teams were led by Taolu coach Angom Sanathoibi Chanu and Sanda coach Mayanglambam Bimoljit.
