AMCO hosts church leaders' consultation programme

A one-day consultation programme for church pastors, deacons and youth members was organised by the All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) on the them of 'contemporary issues' on July 19 at Tamenglong district Hqs.
The consultation meeting recommended strict compliance with the election code of conduct during election time, conveyed an AMCO press release.
The meeting participated by around 245 delegates agreed on constituting a forum which can initiate and invite all the candidates to come and share their manifestos on an appointed day.
To avoid proxy voting, booth capturing and prevent violence was another recommendation of the meeting.
The meeting further came to a general understanding that desirable candidates should have certain attributes such god fearing, upright with integrity, not given to practising corruption, concern for social justice and people's welfare, dignity of people, having love, care and dedication to service etc.
Simultaneous appeals to all Government employees to attend their offices/schools regularly and to all 'national workers' to avoid meddling in election and to maintain peace, unity and progress of the people were also recommended at the meeting.
It further requested pastors and preachers to create awareness in their congregations on the rules of election, work ethics, integrity and dignity of labour etc.
