Imphal, June 27 2016:
BJP Lamlai Mandal has threatened to launch different modes of democratic agitation if the exact quantity of rice entitled to NFSA beneficiaries of Lamlai AC are not provided by June 30 .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, BJP Manipur Pradesh active member Kh Ibomcha said that they would launch different forms of democratic agitation if NFSA rice is not distributed to beneficiaries of Lamlai AC are not distributed to the full allotted quantity.
Even though NFSA was launched in the State in April, people of Lamlai AC have not been getting any benefit out of it so far.
Taking strong exception to the suggestion of agents selected by the CAF&PD Minister who also represents Lamlai AC to distribute rice at the common rate of 12 Kgs per beneficiary household for both AAY and priority households, village committees, Meira Paibi groups and beneficiaries prohibited distribution of NFSA rice.
Under NFSA, AAY beneficiaries are entitled to 35 Kgs of rice per month while priority households are entitled to 5 Kgs of rice per month per member of the family, Ibomcha said.
Meanwhile FPS agents and some Congress workers have been allegedly threatening beneficiaries to accept whatever quantities of rice are given to them otherwise the rice would be returned and their ration cards cancelled.
Consequent upon the threats, some beneficiaries started accepting whatever quantities of rice are given to them.
But this only created conflicts among beneficiaries.
Even though a complaint has been lodged with the CAF&PD Minister, nothing has been done so far to resolve the issue.
Nonetheless, the Minister earlier appealed to beneficiaries to send reports if they receive NFSA rice in lesser quantities so that the authority can take befitting action against defaulters, Ibomcha said.
Distribution of 13 Kgs of rice to each AAY and priority households would entail forfeiture of 91554 Kgs of rice from the monthly quota entitled to Lamlai AC.
This is nothing but day light robbery, Ibomcha continued.
He then appealed to all village committees, Meira Paibi groups, youth clubs and the general public of the Assembly segment to raise a strong collective voice against the alleged injustice meted out to them.
