DM extends lockdown for another 14 days in Kpi, 15 test positive

Kangpokpi, June 26 2021:
District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi in exercise of the powers conferred under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Section 144 of the CrPC, 1972 declared another 14 days 'Lockdown and Curfew' in the district with limited permitted activities.
DM/DC Kangpokpi, Somorjit Salam, IAS, in an order issued yesterday informed that the threat of the pandemic and the possibility of widespread infection still existed in the district and that suitable restrictions were needed for public safety.
All departments and institutions like media, power, fire services, PHED, CAFPD, Police, Health, Relief and DM and District Administration were permitted to function while vehicle workshops of goods trucks, petrol tankers, LPG bullet, etc may open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on all days by taking adequate precaution and following necessary protocols, it added.
Essentials items shops shall open from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm every alternate day and they should have fortnightly COVID-19 free certificates from the concerned Medical Officer in charge of the area.
Pharmacies may open regularly as usual with fortnightly COVID-19 free certificates from the concerned Medical Officer of the area.
Banking services with limited staff and petrol pumps to remain open.
Meanwhile, with 15 more COVID-19 positive cases detected in the last 24 hours, the total number of active cases in the district stands at 138.Considering the low percentage of vaccination in the district, Kangpokpi AC MLA, Nemcha Kipgen directed the seven Covid Task Force of her constituency to intensify and organise extensive mass awareness among the public for vaccination.
The Medical Department has also intensified contact tracing and mass testing at various places in the district since the past few weeks.
Mass screening/testing was conducted today at Toribari by a medical team led by Dr Sanjeep and Dr Mary Jone, in which more than 130 individuals were tested without any positive case reported.
