Imphal, June 24 2011:
Yet another case of romance on the mobile phone going horribly wrong and causing embarrassment to family of the girl has surfaced necessitating involvement of an NGO in tracing the girl, whose whereabouts remain unknown for the past four days.
Speaking to newspersons at Manipur Press Club here today, Keishampat based Young Women Help Organisation secretary A Robita said family members of one Moirangthem Priya Devi approached the Organisation that she (Priya) has been missing since June 24 .
It is informed that the 22-year old Priya of Waikhong Khunjao Leikai used to frequently converse on her mobile phone for the last two months with a man, whom Robita identified as one Rohit from Uripok.
For the first time on June 20, since their telephonic alliances, Priya accompanied by three of her colleagues met Rohit at a hotel in Thongjao area after which the three friends left for their embroidery coaching centre.
Upon returning to the hotel at around 1 pm of the same day both Priya and Rohit could not be spotted there leading to frantic telephone calls on Rohit's numbers (9856015778/9089713348) by Priya's younger sister M Lucy.
Robita further narrated that in response to Lucy's first call Rohit informed of Priya returning home from Wangoi only to be told on the second call at around 5 pm that her sister is with him at Manipur Zoological Garden, Iroishemba as both had decided to elope and is about to take her to him place.
Further calls remained unanswered as Rohit's phone was in switch-off mode, said Robita while informing that expectation of the girl's family for customary confirmation of her elopement in the next morning did not materialise.
Even as the family's wait went in vain and a complaint was reportedly lodged at Waikhong police station on June 22, to another call on June 23 Rohit is said to have retorted that he is not aware where Priya is and suggested her relatives be contacted for more detailed information about Priya.
Robita urged all concerned to extend cooperation to the Moirangthem family in tracing Priya's whereabouts.
