Imphal, June 24 2011:
Observing that some Ministers have been attending their offices regularly and discharging their duties sincerely, veteran MPP MLA O Joy has asserted that there are some other Ministers who have been working behind the screen without attending their offices as if they are outlaws or fugitives.
If these Ministers are unable to behave like Ministers and discharge their duties properly, they should rather resign without any misgivings.
The Chief Minister should remove such Ministers and the Governor should dismiss them, O Joy demanded.
Speaking to some media persons today, O Joy alleged that even as several flagship programmes are being taken up in the entire North East region, it has been more than two years since NREGS became a flop in Imphal West district.
Following a complaint filed at the Court by Congress Zilla Parishad against the Congress-led Government, NREGS funds for Imphal West district have been frozen.
Consequent upon the inability to submit utilisation certificates, the Government of India has stalled any further fund release.
The Congress-led Government only remains a spectator to the case filed by Zilla Parishad, O Joy said.
Taking strong exception to the way loans and other aid items were distributed by MOBC, Joy pointed out that embroidery machines for beneficiaries selected last year could not be distributed till date.
He alleged that the concerned Minister have taken the embroidery machines for himself in cahoot with some other people.
Some Ministers could not be found in either their offices or quarters or their own residences.
Neither they were on tour.
Questioning why should Ministers work behind the screen like fugitives, O Joy appealed to all concerned to work openly in their own offices.
