Book Fair doing brisk business

With a number of job aspirants thronging Nupi Lan Complex, where a Book Fair specifically aimed at competitive examination is being held, business is said to be appreciably brisk as the sale proceeds for a day ranges around the Rs 1.50 lakh mark.
According to proprietor of Job Centre, Babupara Ningthoujam Bijoy whose retail sale outlet is co-hosting the Fair with Arihant Prakashan, Meerut the Fair which began on June 22 will conclude on June 26 .
With about 15,000 books on various competitive examinations by different authors put on display, the number of visitors arriving to scan through or purchase is said to be impressive in the first few days and more are expected to throng the venue before the Fair concludes.
Informing that price of the books ranges from Rs 2000 to Rs 500, Bijoy expressed hope that organising such an event would facilitate people of Manipur, particularly the educated unemployed, prepare in an efficient manner for appearing at various competitive examinations for entry into central services.
Contending that objective of Job Centre to organise the Fair is not based on profit alone but to contribute the Centre's mite in helping the younger generation get acquainted with the rigours of applying for central services, he said 10 percent discount is being given on purchase of a book.
Books available at the Fair include literatures from medical and engineering to clerical jobs as well as illustrated dictionaries and speeches by global figures.
Speaking to The sangai Express K Ashakiran from Sagolband and RK Rebita of Nongmeibung expressed elation that their aspiration to appear for jobs in the financial institution such as bank received a major boost as they have both laid their hands on 'solved papers' related to banking examinations.
Confiding that their search for similar books at various book stores in Imphal in the past had ended futilely, both were unanimous that such a Fair need to be held for longer period to enable others from beyond Imphal areas gain access.
DM College of Commerce student L Sandeep and Md Farhan-nuddin of Lilong were the other satisfied customers.
